…help us appease the gods?

Christian Fielden in action

After receiving so many cool comments on our “Apocalypse” series, we decided to return to our trusty derelict location for the sequel, “A-maya-lation”. Shot in cold mid-November 2012 with the impending Maya prediction looming, we whipped up 5 tasty dishes all worthy of the Mayan king himself. Worried we might still lose our heads, we offered the series to ELLE Eten instead, who readily gobbled up the pics for this months’ issue. So we beg of you, to help appease the gods… go and buy a copy now! (or have a sneak peek in the editorial folder)

…it’s just the way the cookie crumbles!

Now that the festive season has finally lifted its over-indulging vale, I couldn’t think of a better time to nip the usual new years resolutions straight in the bud!

These White Choc-Chip & Cranberry gems from Dennis’s kitchen at cookies, are absolutely “Yum”.

Now, If you’re looking at one of my jars feeling a little weary about getting your hands dirty, drop me a line and I’ll come over for a chat and bake ‘em up for you!

“…it’s just the way the cookie crumbles!”

so just enjoy.

…flying “high” in business class!

KLM’s new “from Holland” book is available to all business class passengers flying out of Amsterdam. A unique challenge to be able to portrait some of the typically Dutch products off the menu whilst keeping it in the old “Dutch masters” style. This was the second time my work has been viewed at 32,000 feet after creating the March cover of KLM’s “Holland Herald” together with Remko Kraaijeveld. Check out the rest of this series in the “editorial” category.

“Wanna have a look in my kitchen…?”

…so did the dutch tv program “Altijd Wat” on channel 2 (Ned 2)

After the producers watched a You tube film on how a Quarter pounder with cheese is made to look so good for McDonalds Canada, they wanted to know how a modern day food stylist went about his work here in Holland. I was contacted to make a short portrait of my culinary daily antics and after following me around for the day, a short item was aired on 17th July 2012 .

Apocalypse – the day after…

Chris leap-frogging his hasselblad

No this isn’t Hollands dopest new craze of DSLR leap-frogging! Just Chris in his rather dignified somalian shooting posture during our “Apocalypse ~ the day after” shoot.

We found this ideal location for this shoot,  just minutes from Chris’s studio and bundeled over the fence, equiptment and all! (why does it always feel sooooooo good whilst doing something your not supposed to?)

Anyway we scouted the area and quickly designated several ideal shot locations and got set up ready to shoot. This is where my “hunter, gatherer” instincts kick in and I start sniffing out long discarded objects that would fit seamlessly into the shot composition. After about 3 hours of rummaging through the charred remains of the building we had 3 decent apocalyptic shots.

Just 2 more to go but this called for a change in location so after piling everything into the van we shot off to the local fire department training facility to do some more melting!

We rushed the last 2 shots in about 45 mins flat seeing as the good man in charge wanted to lock up and go home for the day just as we arrived! bloody civil servant!

All in all it was a fun filled day out with a healthy dose of trespassing, pyromaniacy and noshing slightly charred marshmallow fluff  until we felt nauseous!

Check out the results in my “personal” portfolio file.
